A family farm since 1962
Three generations on the Antichasia
In 1962 Elias Doumas led his cattle to Koutra, outside Megalo Eleftherochori. There, on the slopes of the Antichasia, the farm began.
In 1999 his son, Thomas Doumas, brought the Greek black pig to the farm and turned to organic husbandry.
A year later came the bison, which have lived here for more than twenty years and are today the only herd in the Balkans.
In 2012 Murciano-Granadina goats arrived from Spain, alongside the local wild goat.
Since 2001 Thomas and his daughter, Vicki Douma, have brought organic bison and black pig to the Greek market, both fresh and as charcuterie.
About Douma Vital Farm
Douma Vital Farm was founded in 1962 on the slopes of the Antichasia. Across some 350 hectares of organic pasture live the Greek black pig, the only bison herd in the Balkans and two herds of goats: Murciano-Granadina and the local wild goat. The farm is not measured in land alone. It is measured in the time and space each animal is given to grow as nature intends.
Free to Graze
The organic Greek black pig has lived free on our farm since 1999, on a diet based on acorns and the bulbs of the earth. Organic feed is added only in winter. The bison and the goats graze freely on the same pastures. The way an animal is raised is written into the character of its meat.
